Created on the 24th of January 2006, ARIA - Lower Normandy Regional Automotive Industry Association strives to facilitate the development and the durability of the region's businesses in the automotive sector. ARIA BN's mission is to organise the sector by federating resources from various structures and, in particular, by networking potential partners interested in developing the automotive sector throughout Normandy. The association's 3 key priorities are as follows:
- to facilitate communication: on a national and international scale, within networks and for the benefit of the companies involved
- to support and accompany industrial performance: by working towards development strategies, relying on partnerships, and using shared resources
- to support innovation: via industrial, individual or collaborative projects, in partnership with competitiveness clusters, and using appropriate business intelligence tools

Since its creation, and within the context of its action plan, ARIA BN has been simultaneously involved in several collective and individual initiatives:
- the publication of a website devoted to information and exchange and providing a networking tool for member organisations. collecting and disseminating among its members the latest automotive industry trends and information.
- ARIA BN initiates, encourages and supports regional cooperation, alliance and partnerships between its members.
- participating in specialised forums and trade fairs enabling member companies to bring their expertise to the attention of a target population.
- organising the grouping together of businesses in order to help them anticipate market change and to establish methodologies for approaching prime manufacturers.
- organising a Lean Manufacturing workshop in direct contact with a partner company.
- organising familiarisation trips and encounters during international trade fairs.
- organising FOCUS Operations enabling contractors to present their policy and strategy.
- creating the PROCAR project, a diagnosis and performance programme adapted to suit each company.
