The Pays Sud Calvados (South Calvados) is a centrally located territory, irrigated by 2 major routes, and offering many advantages:
a diversity of landscapes, rich architectural and historical heritage, a variety of spectacular natural sites together with a steadfast industrial activity



TERRITORIAL PERIMETER
The Pays du Sud Calvados reunites 101 communes, which are in turn grouped together within 3 intercommunalities: the Pays de Falaise, the Pays de la Suisse Normande and the Pays de Condé et de la Druance.The area's 101 communes are spread across 8 cantons. Aunay-sur-Odon, Bretteville-sur-Laize, Condé-sur-Noireau, Evrecy, Falaise Nord, Falaise Sud, Morteaux-Couliboeuf and Thury-Harcourt.


GENERAL INFORMATION
Of a total surface area of 837km2, the area encompasses 101 communes and is home to 48,222 inhabitants (7% of the department's total population) for a density of 57 inhabitants per km2.
The area is organised around two major road routes which cover its three main urban centres: the RN 158 (soon to be upgraded to the A88) linking Falaise and Caen; the D562 linking Thury-Harcourt and Condé-sur-Noireau on the Caen – Laval route.
Three medium-sized towns represent the Pays Sud Calvados' main urban centres:
Falaise: 8,781 inhabitants in 2009
Condé-sur-Noireau: 5,807 inhabitants in 2009
Thury-Harcourt: 1,848 inhabitants in 2009
A network of smaller burghs completes the landscape. Pont d’Ouilly, Potigny, Morteaux-Couliboeuf, Clécy, Cesny-Bois-Halbout.

ECONOMIC INFORMATION
The Pays Sud Calvados is a rural and essentially agricultural area. The area comprises two major geographical features:
To the east, the Falaise plain, with its infinite horizons abundant with vast agricultural crops, mainly cereals.
To the west, the undulating and scarped hills and valleys of the Suisse Normande including the bocage; excellent grazing land, hence intense breeding activity.

The area includes 9 businesses employing over 100 salaried workers and 5 with over 200.
Main industrial sectors:
- Motor industry: Over 1,500 salaried jobs Honeywell friction materials in Condé-sur-Noireau (460 salaried workers);
ArvinMeritor L.V.S in Esson (450 salaried workers); MGI Coutier in Condé-sur-Noireau (219 salaried workers)
- Agrifood industry: Tartefrais in Falaise (140 salaried workers); Normandie Plats Cuisinés in Falaise (120 salaried workers);
Vallée (Lactalis group) in Clécy (130 salaried workers); La Table de Guillaume in Falaise (4 salaried workers)
- Printing and publishing: Corlet Imprimeur in Condé-sur-Noireau (250 salaried workers); Tonnelier Imprimeur in
Condé-sur-Noireau (135 salaried workers): The second-ranking French printer of pharmaceutical inserts.
- Other sectors: Filix (Worldtex group) in Condé-sur-Noireau (124 salaried workers): the worlds 1st manufacturer of covered
elastic yarn; Clips in Falaise (140 salaried workers) manufacturer of removable partitions; Erca Formseal in Falaise
(92 salaried workers): manufacture of packaging machines for the dairy and food industry; Filmasport in Potigny
(39 salaried workers): manufacture of nets and equipment for sport
