Three factors to encourage the development
of new logistics platforms in Normandy:
- Premium geographical location on
the Northern/South-Western Europe
(including Spain) axis
- Proximity to the Paris basin
- Several commercial ports

Road transport platforms, in the vicinity of major junctions, in the 3 Normandy departments' major towns:
- Calvados (Caen – Bayeux - Condé-sur-Noireau – Honfleur – Lisieux - Vire and respective outskirts)
- Manche (Cherbourg – Avranches – Coutances – Granville - Saint-Lô and respective outskirts – Guilberville logistics platform
situated on the A84 interchange, East/West - North/South axis
- Orne (Alençon – Argentan – Domfront – Flers – Gacé – Mortagne-au-Perche - L’Aigle and respective outskirts)

Logistics platforms and air and sea transport throughout the region:
- Port of Caen-Ouistreham: 4th French port of national interest (cereal, exotic woods, scrap iron) in 2011.
- Port of Cherbourg (containers, bulk, refrigerated goods...)
- Port of Honfleur: 3rd French port for wood, petroleum, aggregates...
- Deauville-Saint-Gatien Airport (horse transport)

The region also hosts platforms belonging to major trading groups:
- Leclerc (Lisieux)
- Système U (Caen)
- Aldi (Honfleur)
- Carrefour (Carpiquet)
- Decathlon (Mondeville)

Calvados: 56 - Manche: 31 - Orne: 28 (in 2008).
Many more when taking into account companies operating under NAF codes other than 63.1D (refrigerated warehousing) and 63.1E (non-refrigerated warehousing).
